New Knights: Mr. Avey

Mr. Avey will be replacing our long-time president, Mr. Raimondi, for the 2022-2023 school year. Prior to his role at Bishop Kelly, Mr. Avey worked at HP “just shy of twenty-five years” as a general manager. Recently our new president served in HP’s Education Department, the division that sells associated technology to K-12 schools around the world, as well as higher education.

As the president of Bishop Kelly, Mr. Avey plans to focus on the “spiritual aspect” that the school has to offer, assuring that the spirit, mind, and body are all taken into consideration. He encourages students to attend mass in the chapel, and most importantly, urges the BK community to “get involved” in different sports, clubs, etc. Mr. Avey plans on getting involved through his ability to “interact daily with [the] student body, and with their families, in a very positive way.” He is also eager to attend athletic events and other extracurricular activities throughout the school year.

Now, time for some juicy information about BK’s new president. In the winter months, Mr. Avey can be found outdoors hunting different birds; during the summertime, you can find him on the golf course or “tooling around Boise” on his e-bike. Mr. Avey generally prefers vanilla over chocolate, however, he says that Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are the best candy to ever exist…interesting. He also says that scuba diving is better than skydiving but, in a somewhat contradictory manner, states that if he could have any superpower it would be the ability to fly. Mr. Avey is a strong believer that his cats, Cheese and Crackers, are far superior to any dog that he could have. He enjoys listening to the Dave Matthews Band but, most importantly and controversially, Mr. Avey thinks that a hotdog “absolutely” is a sandwich.
