Staff of the Month Highlight- Mrs. Ellis

This month’s Staff of the Month Highlight is dedicated to Mrs. Krystal Ellis, Bishop Kelly’s new Vice Principal of Student Services. Mrs. Ellis got her degree in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida, and moved back to Idaho in her twenties to start teaching in the Cottonwood district in Northern Idaho. She taught elementary and then middle and high school math, primarily geometry classes. Mrs. Ellis then moved to Meridian and taught at North Star Charter School for nine years, eventually becoming head of the math department, and has had her administrative certification since 2013.

As Vice Principal of Student Services, Mrs. Ellis would describe her job as not only handling discipline, but fostering student culture. She believes it’s equally important to reward students for what they’re doing right in balance with disciplining students. She focuses on student support and oversight, and has a daughter who is a freshman at Bishop Kelly.

Her favorite part about Bishop Kelly are the students and staff, who she describes as incredibly kind and compassionate. “God has really had an impact on the people here at BK,” Mrs. Ellis stated. “I can see it shine through in the way that they behave towards each other and others.” She is most excited this year to see House Time come more into fruition, with bonds being built between students who “wouldn’t normally find each other.”
