Welcome Back!

Welcome back everyone! With a new school year comes new beginnings, new friends, new students, and best of all: new teachers! In our English section, we have Mrs. Miller and Mrs. A. In the physics department, we have the amazing Mr. Bottom, who majored in meteorology. Mrs. Miller, who teaches 9th and 12th grade English, loves savory breakfasts and has been teaching for a total of 12 years. Previously, she taught English and Creative Writing at West Junior High in Boise and English at Borah High School. She prefers pancakes over waffles, a shocking outlier beside many of the waffle lovers at BK. In her first few days here, Mrs. Miller was shocked and pleasantly surprised by how polite the students and staff were. She said it was the first thing she noticed about BK, and that she “had never received so many thank-yous in her life. Her main excitement for this year is to have fun and to continue to enjoy how respectful her students are.

In the 700s hall, we have our new BK AP Physics and Conceptual Physics teacher: Mr. Bottom. In his first full-time teaching position, Mr. Bottom comes from Virginia and previously did temporary substitute positions at Bishop O’Connell High School in Arlington. This year, he is most excited about being with the students at Bishop Kelly and doing Physics with them. He is excited for his first year teaching, and is enjoying his time here so far. Just like Mrs. Miller, he prefers pancakes over waffles. Although he does not name his cars, he believes that people should have the right to do so. An all-american, his favorite dessert is apple pie and he prefers  sweet over savory breakfast, very on brand. He considers himself an early bird, which has got to be useful as a teacher, especially a new one.

This year’s new teachers have already found a safe home and environment at BK, and we hope to see them succeed for years to come!
