Oh Baby!

Our librarian Mrs. Ward oversees many different areas of education at school, including online databases, helping students find books for different classes, and more. She even serves as faculty advisor of Bishop Kelly’s Book Club. Earlier in the school year, our beloved librarian Mrs. Ward began her time off for her maternity leave. In April, she brought her wonderful son into the world. While BK just isn’t the same without Mrs. Ward, all of the students send her well wishes. An anonymous student who had a study period in the library for first period recalls how Mrs. Ward brought their spirits up and helped them with their projects, study for quizzes, and more. With that said, Mrs. Bastian, the librarian who stepped in for Mrs. Ward during the last half of second semester, did an amazing job at keeping the library nonsense free during the busiest time of the school year. During AP and finals week, she kept the school library in excellent shape.

Along with Mrs. Ward, BK had another teacher out on maternity leave this semester: Mrs. Gavika. As a geometry teacher, Mrs. Gavika mostly deals with freshmen and sophomores, so some upperclassmen may not know her as well. However, she provides a safe space for her students and brings life and joy to BK. Congratulations Mrs. Ward and Mrs. Gavika! BK will be praying for you and your children in the upcoming summer months.
