A Full Circle Moment

Last Thursday, BK Kelly Gold’s first year of their new legacy came to a close at the Spring Show and Banquet. In celebration of the hard work that was poured in by every dance team member since August, the dancers performed their award-winning competition routines one last time for an audience of over 200, including Kelly Gold alumni and founders from the first generation of the team several decades ago. Gracie Rhodes, a current junior and officer on the team, believes the event was “a way to celebrate everything we accomplished this season, everyone’s role on the team, and look back on some special memories that made us truly a team and a family!”.

Along with the four team competition routines in the genres of hip hop, lyrical, kick, and military were four solos performed by seniors Bella Boudreau and London Ludwig, and juniors Ava Burnett and Gracie Rhodes. To involve the community, the Kelly Gold Nuggets, future BK students aged 4-12, also made a special appearance in their very own routine they learned at the Kelly Gold Nugget Camp in March along with the Kelly Gold Kings, an all guys group. Talented Studio C and Dance Unlimited teams guest-starred in the show as well.

Following the dances was a banquet honoring the team’s overall and individual achievements, along with the four seniors who each contributed to the team in their own immeasurable way. There was lots to celebrate, from earning the position of 2023 Academic State Champions to high placings in all competitions, including State, their first year back.

After this culmination, Kelly Gold is already looking forward to the 2024 season, one that is sure to be full of more hard work and success. Leadership roles for the next year have been established, with Ava Burnett and Gracie Rhodes as Captains, Sophia Hebert and Ellie Sanchez as Officers, and Kathryn Lind as Social Officer. Strong teams begin with strong leadership, and even before the start of its next season, Kelly Gold has not fallen short of this. The current members are stoked for everything the new school year will offer, from teammates who will have their own gifts to enhance both routines and team bonding to powerful choreography by new artists. Here’s to a new year of friendship, performances, and of course competitions!

If you have dance experience and are interested in trying out for the team next year, tryouts will be held in the Carly Center, April 18-20, from 6:15 am to 7:15 am . . . we would love to meet you!
