After the retirement of BK’s beloved janitor Kenny last year, students at BK were unsure whether one of the most beloved homecoming traditions would continue. This time-honored tradition is the BK Homecoming Bonfire, which took place during homecoming week after the varsity football game against Burley on Friday night.
Students love the bonfire because it is a fantastic opportunity to catch up with friends and celebrate being back at school (or try to at least). It is one of the many aspects of homecoming week that promotes inter-grade unity and strengthens bonds between upper and lower classmen. Most of the excitement at the bonfire this year was perpetuated by the return of Kenny the janitor to light the bonfire. His unique way of starting the bonfire using a bow and arrow is always sure to excite students. Kenny’s appearance was initially introduced as a “special surprise”, but most students assumed and hoped for Kenny’s return. This year’s bonfire was extremely successful and helped bring an amazing homecoming week to a close.
